National protest: "Three years of genocide is not a ceasefire"

A ceasefire in Gaza was declared on October 10, 2025. Since then, Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli regime every single day. Other terms of the ceasefire are also being continuously violated. Furthermore, the illegal "yellow line"—used by Israel to occupy and de facto annex large parts of Gaza—is being pushed ever further, steadily shrinking the land available to Palestinians in Gaza. People cannot return to what remains of their homes. Insufficient aid is reaching the Gaza Strip. So we wonder: how is it possible that the media and politicians persist in referring to this non-existent ceasefire?

What is the call to action?

On October 11, we are taking to the streets. We will gather in Amsterdam—in as large numbers as possible—to call for sanctions against the ongoing genocide and occupation by the Israeli regime. A program will begin at Dam Square at 2:00 PM, followed by a march through the city center.

We want a real ceasefire

This is a call for a real ceasefire. Because continuing to speak of a "ceasefire" creates the impression that the situation is not that bad—while Palestinians are still being shot at, bombed, displaced, and killed every day. They are struggling to survive in ruined tents and buildings with insufficient supplies. Scrambling to find clean drinking water, food, or fuel for cooking, all while the medical sector is crippled and children have little opportunity to attend school.

The Israeli apartheid regime is carrying out ethnic cleansing in Gaza, the West Bank, and across Palestine. The media has a responsibility to interpret events based on facts, rather than on what "Israel says." Furthermore, our government must formulate policy based on international law and treaties, rather than hiding behind a sham truce.

The Israeli regime is not only bombing Gaza but also destroying land, infrastructure, and lives in Lebanon. The world must ensure that the killing by this genocidal regime—which refuses to even recognize its own borders and dreams of a "Greater Israel" stretching from the Nile to the Euphrates—is brought to a halt. "Greater Israel" is advocated for by figures such as Netanyahu and Finance Minister Smotrich, and encompasses (parts of) Palestine, Lebanon (either the entire country or its southern region), Jordan, Syria (parts), Iraq (parts extending to the Euphrates), Egypt (the Sinai Peninsula and areas reaching the Nile), and Saudi Arabia.

Protest against the ongoing genocide

The UN and numerous human rights organizations have stated that genocide is taking place, as the intent and actions aimed at destroying the Palestinian people—in whole or in part—are clearly evident from the statements and conduct of Israeli elected officials, the media, the occupying army, and civilians.

Get ready

Bring a sign with a message. There are surely images and statements shared by people from Palestine that have stayed with you. What has moved you over the past (nearly) three years? Make a protest sign: print out a photo from social media, mount it on cardboard, and add a caption, or simply write out a quote in large letters. In this way, we can show the people in Gaza, the West Bank, and all of Palestine that they are seen and heard by people around the world.
